Studying for the OSCP: Update 1

Hello again! I haven’t super active doing writeups here lately, for the primary reason of putting the majority of my hacking energy towards studying for the OSCP (as well as just life generally being busy). I’m approximately 50% of the way through the course, so a bit behind schedule but I’ve been really pushing to catch up as much as possible.

Recently, I’ve sunk a lot of time into customizing my Kali VM study environment to make it feel better to spend time in, and this is the result: A heavily customized Obsidian vault. I’m using the Sweet system theme alongside the accompanying Candy Icons set. For my Obsidian setup, I’m using the Royal Velvet theme with the Terminal plugin (which itself I’m using a custom non-ANSI compliant color palette for ^^). I ended up going with this theme since I felt like it suited the Sweet theme the best due to also being bright and colorful without hurting your eyes to read. The terminal plugin is there because it’s a lot more convenient to do things side-by-side with my notes rather than having to either click back on and off again from my notes or squishing the Obsidian window. So overall I’ve ended up with a work environment I’m quite happy with!

Intro Post

Well, this is my inaugural post for this blog! I don’t have particularly much to report on at the moment, except that I’ve slowly begun compiling my own cheatsheet of various techniques and things I often forget to check during enumeration. There are a bajillion OSCP cheatsheets out there, and I’m sure I’ll reference those during the exam proper as well; this is just something for me specifically to help with the things I’ve noticed I get stuck on doing boxes (often just the specific syntax of various flags). Whenever I go through a box I always take notes, so I might go through some of the retired boxes I’ve completed and re-do them to make formal writeups out of those.

Bye for now!
